How to choose skateboard gears

    How to choose skateboard gears?

    Choosing your gear
We should all start with protective gears until we mastered the tricks so that we can minimize damage and prevent serious injuries.

Here's the list of protective safety gears that you should have:
    1) Helmet
    2) Knee/Elbow Pad
    3) Wrist Guard
    4) Padded Skate Shorts

    Helmet
Let's face it! Skateboarding is not all fun and games and you will fall a lot when you're learning new moves and tricks. Therefore, it's important to ensure that you're head is safely intact when you train.

Get a helmet from reputable manufacturer such as Bell or Giro with Australian standard approved. Try all the helmets and choose the one that suits you the most with the design you like.

    Knee/Elbow Pad
Knee and elbow pad will help you absorb the impact as well as prevent abrasions from sliding on the ground. I suggest getting a hard plastic caps as it offer the most impact and abrasion protection. Starters should start with thicker pads too.

    Wrist Guard
Wrist injures are common skateboarding injuries based on statistics as it's natural to reach for the ground when you fall. Make sure your wrist guard have splints to absorb impact and reduce chances of injuries because it places a large impact forces and causes lots of injuries when falling.

The splints are the hard pieces on the front and back of the wrist that provide support for the skate wrist guard. These splints can be made of metal, carbon fiber, plastic, or a hard foam. Choose the material based on the protection versus the flexibility you want

    Padded Skate Shorts
Ensure that the skate pads provide maximum coverage as it help protect your butt, tailbone, hips, and thighs from impact and abrasions. Do get a thick one if you are just starting out. We recommend you to hand wash it too to ensure that it keeps in good form.

      Skateboarding-How to calf wrap

        What is a calf wrap?
This one is extremely difficult to describe accurately, and right now I can't find any photos to reference. Basically, the calf wrap trick involves standing on one leg, with the other leg bent behind it and tucked into the back of your knee. The skateboard is held off the ground, clamped between the two legs.

        How to calf wrap
        1. This position is achieved by doing a modified no comply.
        2. Pop your board with your front foot at the edge of the lip.
        3. When you jump, place your front foot on the ground and use your back foot to scoop the board behind your front knee and between your legs.
        4. Once you are in the calf wrap position, you can jump a few times with the board and jump back into the normal stance. Do check out the video for a detailed explanation!

        How to bigspin?

        3. Begin the BS180 ollie by hitting the tail but shove it the board hard with your back foot.
        4. Hit the tail at the centre so that there is no flip occuring
        5. Your front foot should hover right above the spinning board and should stop the board from spinning when the board made a full rotation.
        6. Once your board has turned 360 and you turned 180, it's landing time. You should be landing in a backside position.

        2. Pull an ollie and pull your leg towards the nose of the board.
        3. Take your rear foot and move it to the side of the board so it wont hit the board while doing the ollie.
        4. Next, spin your front foot in a circle position. Start from down to top circular position.
        5. Stop your board and place your foot on the board to land.

      Skateboarding-How to pop shove it?

What is a pop shove it?
Pop shove it is basically It is a trick where you ollie while your board spins 180 degrees. This consists of popping your skateboard and spin the back of your board to either left or right.

        How to pop shove it?

        1. Start with an ollie position with your front foot slightly further back than usual.
        2. Hit your tail, but instead of pushing straight down and jumping straight up, push down and behind you with the ball of your foot.
        3. Get your weight completely off the front foot so that there is nothing to stop the board from turning. Once you hit the tail and pushed down, the board should go into the air and start to turn under you.
        4. Let the board hit your front foot when it is nearly as high as it can go.
        5. Bring your back foot over and onto the board so your feet are on it like they would be at the peak of an ollie.
        • Practice the scooping motion with just your back foot while standing. With your front foot on the ground, stomp the tail of the board and guide it around 180 degrees. This will help you get the feel of the trick without worrying about falling.
If you've done all the steps right, you will land the pop shove it nicely. Work on popping the board more to get higher and try rolling faster so you get the hang of it.
